Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) and Faculty of Law Universiti Malaya held Law Academic Seminar 2016 on Tuesday, March 23rd 2016 at Auditorium Fakulti Undang-Undang, Universiti Malaya.
The Seminar was opened by speech from Dean of Faculty of Law Universiti Malaya, Associate Prof. Dr. Johan Shamsuddin, and Dean of FHUI, Prof. Dr. Topo Santoso, S.H., M.H.
The joint seminar was the second event, after the same event was held several years ago at FHUI. The same event was planned to be held again at FHUI, next year.
The main theme that was discussed in this seminar was about how the law in Indonesia and Malaysia face several main problems either in public law or private law.
In this seminar, several interesting topic were discussed, among other was about data protection in Malaysia and Indonesia, Asean Economic Community, Identification and Authentication System for legalization, ASEAN Transboundary Air Pollution, Applying DES Litigation to Forest Fires, and also Street Law Clinic.
Those issues were discussed in both countries perspective, so that both parties could learn a lesson from each point of view. Street Law Clinic is a cooperation that is recently working between Faculty of Law of UI and Universiti Malaya.
Speakers from FHUI for this seminar were Prof.Dr. Hikmahanto Juwana, Prof. Dr. Topo Santoso, Dr. Edmon Makarim, Dr. M. R. Andri Gunawan W, Dr Lidwina Inge N, Fully Handayani, S.H., M.H., and Febby Mutiara Nelson, S.H., M.H.
Meanwhile, speakers from Universiti Malaya were Prof. Dr. Abu Bakar Munir, Associate Prof. Dr. Azmi Sharom, Prof. Dr. Tie Fatt Hee, Dr. Sarah Tan, Sridevi Thambapillay, Sik Cheng Peng, Associate Prof. Dr. Norbani Mohamed Nazeri, and Aisyah Binti Mohd Soberi.
This seminar were also attended by several deans, professors, lectures, also students from 6 countries that is attending summer course at Universiti Malaya.
