Depok, July 12th 2023. Faculty of Psychology Universitas Indonesia (FPsi UI) signed a partnership with Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (Badan Narkotika Nasional Republik Indonesia or BNN RI) on Tuesday, July 11th 2023 at Building D’s Hall in Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia, Depok. This partnership aims to develop academic activities by opening a special program to study Rehabilitation and Treatment for Drug Usage. The agreement was directly signed by the Dean of Faculty of Psychology Universitas Indonesia, Dr. Bagus Takwin, M. Hum., Psychologist and the Deputy of Rehabilitation of Indonesian National Narcotics Agency, Dra. Riza Sarasvita, M.Si., MHS., Ph.D.

The partnership includes the opening of major courses for the Magistrate program, special courses for students with a degree in Psychology, and Non-Degree Program on Rehabilitation and Treatment for Drug Usage; Development and Integration of course on Rehabilitation and Treatment for Drug Usage for Psychology Magistrate Program; training for lecturers of the Psychology Magistrate Program; and practical study program along with internship, and other forms of partnership.

“We hope this partnership can be implemented soon where in the next semester, we will be able to open the registration of new graduate students for the Magister Program with a major in Addiction Psychology. As we move forward, may this partnership brings benefits for the society,” stated Dr. Bagus.

Sharing the same sentiment, Riza mentioned in her speech that the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency and the Faculty of Psychology Universitas Indonesia have been partners for a long time. She also put an urgency on finishing the learning modules for the Magister Program on Addiction Psychology. “Indonesian National Narcotics Agency is ready to welcome the students for a practical and internship program. We hope this partnership could become the starting point for future ones,” said Riza.

Back in 2020, the current Vice Dean of Faculty of Psychology Universitas Indonesia, Dicky C. Pelupessy, Ph.D., was appointed by the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency as the head of a working group assigned to design a guide on quality monitoring for the service Community-Based Treatment program. Later in 2021, he was reappointed as the head of a working group to design a guide on the implementation of Community-Based Intervention (Intervensi Berbasis Masyarakat atau IBM) as a national priority program of the agency. Moreover, he was asked to do a research in order to evaluate the implementation of IBM at the end of 2021 (after the first year of implementation). IBM is community-based rehabilitation program that involves recovery agent which consists of citizens of village area.
