Universitas Indonesia (UI) closed the series of UI’s 73rd Anniversary yesterday, through an offline event held at Balairung UI, Depok Campus, West Java. The anniversary with the theme “Innovation from UI for Excellent Indonesia”, was previously commenced with an Open Session with a scientific oration by Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prof. dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Sp.PD-KEMD, Ph.D., on February 2, 2023. The award handover ceremony given to the UI academics, as well as the launch of Smart Classroom and Remote-Virtual Lab UI were carried out on February 15, 2023.
At the peak of UI’s 73rd Anniversary, UI Secretary dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D. representing the Rector of UI, expressed her gratitude to the UI academics who continuously enhance cooperation in realizing what is expected by the community. Through hard work and smart work, they have been trying to gain proud achievements for UI and Indonesia.
“UI’s big goal is to bring the Indonesian nation to enlightenment. Therefore, universities must know what needs to be achieved. This is a good time to see our challenges, opportunities, and hopes together.” said dr. Agustin.
One of the efforts to achieve this goal is that UI continuously creates various innovations that have a direct impact on society. Through collaboration with various partners, such as ministries, the private sector, and NGOs, lecturers and students are able to receive support to make innovations.
Head of Public Relations and Public Information Disclosure Bureau UI, as well as the chief committee of UI Anniversary, Dra. Amelita Lusia, M.Sc., said that, “Currently, UI focuses on becoming the big five universities in ASEAN through the innovations it produces. By continuing to instill the Three Pillars of Higher Education, we hope that UI academics, lecturers, students, and UI community, can continue to develop and be motivated to rise at the ASEAN, Asian, and global levels, through their innovations,” said Amelita.
The peak of UI Anniversary event was enlivened by the appearance of the winner of the vocal competition and a special performance from singer Yura Yunita. UI also gave awards to the winners of competitions that have been held since January, including sports competitions, Tumpeng Decorating Contest, Instagram Video Reels Competition, Line Dance, News Writing, Vocal (Solo, Duo, and Group), and Songwriting Competition. The selected participants are those who try to display Indonesia’s diversity through the art of movement, sound, or costumes without losing the characteristics of their respective faculties. This agenda is expected to have a positive impact on UI’s relations with academics and society.
In the news writing competition, the winners of the competition raised news coverage about various innovations that had been carried out by UI academics.
