Universitas Indonesia (UI) received another good news for its performance, as it was ranked number one in the country, number 5 in Southeast Asia, and number 301-400 in the world, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2022 By Subject for Arts and Humanities.
The ranking was announced through the official website of THE World University Rankings https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/by-subject.

In measuring university performance, THE WUR by Subject 2022 uses the same indicators as THE WUR 2022.
The indicators have been calibrated to suit each discipline.
THE WUR by Subject 2022 in Arts and Humanities conducts a ranking assessment based on five indicators, namely: Industry Income (2.5%), International Outlook (7.5%), Teaching (37.4%), Research (37.6%), and Citations (15%).
In the Industry Income indicator, UI managed to achieve a perfect score (100) which made it included in the top five universities with the highest Industry Income indicator in the world.
UI is also the only university in Indonesia that made it into THE WUR by Subject 2022 category in Arts and Humanities.
On the achievement of being in the best position in Indonesia, UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro said, “It is proud and encouraging of course when UI reaches number one based on the assessment of several ranking agencies, such as from THE WUR By Subject. Throughout this year, when we are all still in a situation of concern due to the Covid-19 pandemic, UI has not subsided in carrying out various activities related to Tri Dharma. Dedication to the country, we prove through innovation and community service, especially those that we hope can have an impact on all of us. All this hard work seems to have paid off for UI’s ranking, which until November 2021 has always been the best.”
This achievement shows that the results of the performance and collaboration of all elements in UI have positive results.
UI, which is currently heading towards an entrepreneurial university, is working to improve its ranking in Asia, and to be taken into account in the list of world campuses.
“Next year, I hope that scores that are still small in certain fields can be encouraged to realize UI to be the best in Southeast Asia and increasingly recognized on a global scale. Thank you to the entire UI academic community for all the hard work so far, so that UI is the first ranked university in Indonesia.”
In Southeast Asia, only eight universities made it into the Arts and Humanities subject.
UI ranked 5th out of 8 institutions in the region, ahead of Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA.
The indicator that UI excelled in the region was the Industry Income indicator, which ranked first.

The rankings for this discipline highlight universities that are leading the way across the following disciplines: Art, performing arts and design; Languages, literature and linguistics; History, philosophy and theology; Architecture; and Archaeology.
In this year’s ranking table, THE WUR by Subject 2022 in Arts and Humanities includes 606 universities, up from 565 last year.
