After successfully collaborating on student exchange, UI held a meeting with Korea University (KU) to discuss and develop collaboration in international programs, research, and student mobility. During the meeting, the University Secretary, Dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., welcomed the Vice President of International Affairs, Prof. Sang Kee Song, and his delegation at the University Administration Center, UI Depok, West Java.

“We believe that today’s meeting will be the starting point for stronger and broader collaboration between UI and KU,” said Dr. Augustine. In her speech, dr. Agustin explained the international programs UI has with other university partners.

Meanwhile, Vice President of International Affairs, Prof. Sang Kee Song, said that the visit to UI was to maintain relationships and collaborations such as student mobility and international programs. dr. Agustin has more collaboration ideas besides student exchange, such as internships, and collaboration programs with industry in all sectors to get experience in Indonesia.

She shared UI experiences in collaborating with other universities, including internship programs between UI and universities from Japan. The Japanese students have internships in Japanese companies in Indonesia for two weeks, along with UI students and UI industry partners.

“At the end of the program, they should share perspectives from Japanese students and Indonesian students. This is very interesting because they have different cultures, so they can share what local culture is like,” said Dr. Augustine.

According to Prof. Sang Kee Song, in the collaboration between UI and Korea University internship programs, students not only study on campus but also work as interns. “Maybe we can combine student mobility and international programs through Korean industrial partners in Indonesia that collaborate with UI. It is very interesting to expand this collaboration,” said Prof. Sang Kee Song.

Hopefully, the collaboration will expand to other aspects beyond the academic field, such as involving industry in research. Discussions regarding the collaboration will continue based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2019.

The UI and Korea University meeting on Friday was attended by the Head of the International Affairs Office, drg. Baiduri Widanarko, M.KKK, Ph.D., Head of the Center for Independent Learning, Fransiskus Astha Ekadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., Head of Sub-Directorate for Strategic Project Cooperation, UI Cooperation Directorate, Aswin Dewanto Hadisumarto, S.E., M.I.A and Coordinator for Public Service Administration and Innovation, Faculty of Medicine, Dr. med. dr. Nyityasmono Tri Nugroho, Sp.B., and Vice President for Research Affairs, Prof. Heon Jeong Lee.
