UI RECEIVED 10 AWARDS FROM PPKM AWARDS 2023 AS APPRECIATION FOR ITS CONTRIBUTION TO HANDLING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

On Monday (20/03), the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) gave appreciation through PPKM Awards 2023 to all parties who have participated and contributed to handling Covid-19. As one of the higher education institutions that has strived during the handling of the pandemic, Universitas Indonesia (UI) through the role of the academic community, alumni, and its facilities, won 10 awards in three categories. The categories are the Best Health Service Facilities, the Best Academics for Supporting the Government in Handling the Pandemic, and the Best Media and Influencers.

In the Health Service Facility category, UI received two awards given to the Faculty of Medicine (FK) with its laboratory facilities as a laboratory with Genetic Surveillance and to Universitas Indonesia Hospital (RSUI) which was awarded as a Hospital (type B) with the best Covid-19 governance in the Java-Bali region. The Best Academics for Supporting the Government in Handling the Pandemic category was bestowed upon two lecturers from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), namely dr. Pandu Riono, M.P.H., Ph.D., who is known as an Epidemic Expert, and dr. Iwan Ariawan, M.S.P.H.

During the pandemic, dr. Pandu and dr. Iwan is actively involved in various efforts to deal with Covid-19, starting from being keynote speakers in webinars related to Covid-19, to becoming research consultants. One of the efforts that has a significant impact is the holding of Sero Surveys, which could reflect the immunity of the people in each region.

Meanwhile, the Best Media and Influencer category was awarded to six FKUI academics and alumni. The awards for the subcategory of Instagram as social media were given to the Professor of Internal Medicine, Prof. dr. Zubairi Djoerban, Sp. PD-KHOM .; Student of the Medical Specialist Education Program (PPDS) of Internal Medicine Study Program, dr. Adam Prabata; and Student of PPDS of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Study Program, dr. Muhammad Fajri Adda’i. Meanwhile, the award for the subcategory of Twitter as social media were given to Student in the Doctoral Program of Biomedical Sciences Study Program, dr. Andi Khomeini Takdir, Sp.PD(K).; Alumnus of Undergraduate of Medical Profession and PPDS of Internal Medicine Study Program, dr. Dirga Sakti Rambe, M.Sc, Sp.PD .; and Alumnus of PPDS of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Study Program, dr. Jaka Pradipta, Sp.P.

Dean of FKUI Prof. Dr. dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, Sp.PD-KGEH., MMB, said, “From the Covid-19 pandemic, we can all learn how to respond quickly and work hand in hand in handling the pandemic.”

The PPKM Awards were presented directly by President Joko Widodo at Dhanapala Building, Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, as a collaboration between the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendag), Indonesian National Army (TNI), Indonesian National Police, and National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB). As quoted from a press release from presidenri.go.id, President Joko Widodo said, “Let us continue this service to solve various humanitarian and national problems and build Indonesia into a developed country.”

There are more than 800 recipients of PPKM Awards, which were given to various parties who have supported and contributed to the handling of Covid-19. The event was also attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, National Police Chief Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo , and Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
