Universitas Indonesia (UI) cooperated with PT. Schlumberger Geophysics Nusantara (Schlumberger
Indonesia) in the development of science and practical study of oil and gas exploration and production.
The cooperation is marked by the signing of Memorandum of Understanding by Rector of UI, Prof. Dr. Ir.
Muhammad Anis, M.Met and Managing Director Schlumberger Indonesia, Ronny Hendrawan on Friday,
April 13 th 2018 at UI Depok Campus. The signing event was also attended by Dean of Faculty of
Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of UI, Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris and Dean of Faculty of
Engineering (FT), Dr. Ir. Hendri D.S. Budiono, M.Eng.
By this cooperation, Schlumberger Indonesia will donate software that will support educational activities
of UI’s Civitas Academica, especially students of Geoscience, Geophysics, Geography, Chemistry, and
Mechanical Engineering of UI.
The software that will be utilized by UI in FMIPA UI classes are Petrel G&G, PetroMod Basin Modeling,
Techlog Petrophysical Analysis, GeoX Propect Analysis, OFM Production Analysis, and Reservoir
Simulation (Petrel-Eclipse) – that can be accessed in Geology and Geophysics Computing Lab of FMIPA
UI, Depok campus. Meanwhile, software that will be used for FT UI classes are OFM Production Analysis,
Reservoir Simulation (Petrel-Eclipse), Drillbench, OLGA, and PIPESIM.
In his speech, Prof. Anis said, “UI appreciates collaboration between higher educational institutions with
industrial party, such as Schlumberger Indonesia. By the software donation, UI students will be able to
feel academic atmosphere with the up-to-date and high technology facility and receive practical study in
oil and gas exploration and production,”.
Moreover, Ronny Hendrawan said that, “Schlumberger Indonesia has done so many cooperation with UI
as one of the top university in Indonesia. Every year we recruit human resources from UI and there has
been UI alumni that became professional in Schlumberger, especially graduates from FTUI dan FMIPA
UI,” added him.
The cooperation in the form of software technology donation hopefully will support student’s study in
terms of practical study related to processing, interpreting, modeling and reservoir simulating of oil and
gas.
By this cooperation, Schlumberger Indonesia able to contribute in improving UI graduates competence to
be excellence and ready to contribute in development.
