Depok, November 13th 2023. After previously winning at the national level competition, Putu Surya Putra Atmaja, who is a student of the Occupational Therapy study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again gained achievements in the field of sports. He managed to bring home a silver medal at the National Dandrem 052 Wijayakrama Cup Championship which was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Korem 052/Wkr. Located at the Tangerang Sport Center, the championship was attended by around 1,800 participants from six provinces.

In this championship, Putu managed to win in the Men’s Under 68kg Kyorugi category. He said that this competition was quite impressive as there were many athletes from various regions. During the match, he admitted that he had to develop a defense and attack strategy for approximately one minute.

“The training I did for this competition was very intense. For two months, from September to October, I continued to train and maintain my health in order to perform optimally during the competition,” said Putu.

Putu is an athlete from the UI Taekwondo Student Activity Unit (UKM) who has competed several times under the UI name. At the end of last May, he managed to get a silver medal at the 2023 Indonesian Taekwondo Teacher Council (DGTI) Taekwondo Championship. He hoped that his achievements can encourage other students to join in striving to make UI proud, both at the national and international levels.

The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, expressed his appreciation for Putu’s achievements at the end of last October. According to him, student achievements can be obtained both from the academic and non-academic field, one of which is sports.

“This achievement will be a source of pride for UI to continue to grow individuals with potential in various fields, both academic and non-academic. UI Vocational Program always supports its students to take part in various competitions at various levels. I hope that other students can follow in Putu’s footsteps and always excel in their respective fields,” said Padang.
