The delegation of Universitas Indonesia (UI) led by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris visited several well-known universities in England from 8 – 16 June 2023.
The best universities that became the destination of the visit this time included: University of Oxford, Imperial College London, The University of Manchester, University of Leeds, The University of Sheffield, University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, Newcastle University, University of Glasgow, and the University of Strathclyde.
Apart from Prof. Haris was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah and faculty management and heads of departments and study programs within FT. The entire delegation was then divided into five groups, to simultaneously attend meetings at several campuses above.
This visit was a follow-up to the plan for cooperation in education and research between UI and the University of Oxford, as well as the signing of a letter of intent to hold double degree programs at undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels at FT with several partner campuses.
Specifically, this visit targeted the opening of a double degree program in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioprocess Technology, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
“The increase in the number of international partners in the double degree program at FT UI means that opportunities and choices for students are now wide open to study at the world’s best campuses. This is also an opportunity for lecturers to expand their scientific network, transfer knowledge to each other, and increase research collaboration.” said Prof. Haris.
During visits to each of these campuses, the UI delegation also greeted and discussed with students, alumni, and lecturers who were studying there. UI also held a meeting with the Education Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in London and visited and discussed with the top management of the Office of Quacquarelli Symonds and Time Higher Education in the same city. ***
