Depok, June 15th 2023. Collaboration and networking to support the internationalization of higher education in Indonesia continues to be initiated by the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), not only for undergraduate programs but also master programs.

This time, FTUI, together with the University of Birmingham, England, set forth international collaboration in an educational cooperation agreement signed by Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T, M.Eng., IPU., Dean of FTUI and Professor Robin Mason, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), University of Birmingham (14/06).

“FTUI and the University of Birmingham have agreed to open a double degree program for undergraduate and masters program students with a 2+2, 1+1 and 2+2+1 pattern. This collaboration is carried out to further improve the quality of FTUI’s international-class programs by adding world-class university partners,” said Prof. Heri.

In the articulation of the 2+2 double degree undergraduate program, students will carry out 2 years of study at FTUI and 2 years at Birmingham for the Undergraduate Program. While in the articulation of the 1+1 double degree master program, students carry out 1 year lectures at FTUI and 1 year at partners for the Masters Program. Later, students of this double degree program will get two degrees from UI and the University of Birmingham, both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

FTUI and the University of Birmingham also agreed on a 2+2+1 Bachelor-Masters triple degree program where undergraduate double degree program students can immediately continue their 1 year master’s degree and graduate with bachelor’s degrees from UI and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Birmingham.

Based on the agreement, the double degree program with the University of Birmingham will be opened for Undergraduate programs (2+2) for the Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering study programs. Double degree Masters program (1+1) is offered for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering study programs. The Bachelor-Master program (2+2+1) is open for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

“Of course in the future we will expand it to cover other study programs at FTUI. In addition, the University of Birmingham also expressed interest in developing joint research collaborations and academic exchanges for FTUI lecturers and students,” added Prof. Harry.
