Tribunnews.com – The 2023 BNI-UI Half Marathon (BNI-UIHM) annual running activity was swarmed by participants. Like concert tickets, the 400 early bird tickets provided by the Universitas Indonesia Alumni Association (ILUNI UI) as organizers were immediately sold out in less than an hour. Even the 5K and 10K categories were flooded with participants and sold out in just 30 minutes.
The BNI-UIHM activity did not only receive a positive response from running enthusiasts, but also from the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo.
In his remarks at the BNI-UIHM Press Conference in Jakarta, 26/05, Dito expressed his appreciation and support for sporting events. He also expressed his pride for the UI campus which was once his alma mater. Moreover, BNI-UIHM also received an award as the pioneer of the best half marathon running event in 2019. He hoped that the sports activities held by ILUNI UI would not stop at the half marathon.
“Hopefully, there will be more programs that collaborate with the sports sector. Hopefully, UI can become a sports-friendly university and attentive about the sports ecosystem, from an achievement development standpoint and from an education standpoint,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of ILUNI UI Didit Ratam said the enthusiasm of these runners was indeed very high with participants reaching thousands and continuing to increase every year. This is due to the unique running experience within the leafy UI Depok campus. Those who participated were not only UI alumni but also the running community and the general public. “BNI-UI HM 2023 is the fifth year it has been held with lots of participants, and has even been voted the Most Favorite Running Competition in the Half Marathon Competition category by the Indo Runners community,” explained Didit.
The Chairperson of the BNI-UIHM 2023 Committee Pitut Pramuji explained that more than 6,000 runners are expected to enliven the BNI-UIHM 2023 which will be held on Sunday, 16 July 2023 starting at 05.00 – 11.00 WIB. This running activity will be carried out within Universitas Indonesia area with a choice of 5K, 10K and Half Marathon tracks. In 2023, participants will be charged a registration fee of IDR 300,000 for 5K, IDR 400,000 for 10K and IDR 600,000 for the Half Marathon.
The BNI-UI Half Marathon is an event that carries the concept of the greenest and most sterile half marathon route. Thus, this half marathon race has a special attraction for runners because of the location which is free from motorized vehicles and the atmosphere of the UI Depok Campus which is surrounded by trees. Participants can enjoy the experience of running in a cool and comfortable atmosphere for breathing. “The BNI-UI Half Marathon is predicted to be the only running track in Indonesia, especially in the Jabodetabek area which has the most sterile and green track,” said Pitut who is also Chair of the ILUNI UI Alumni & Community Center.
BNI Institutional Banking Director Muhammad Iqbal, as one of the company’s pioneers of sustainable banking, welcomed the increasing enthusiasm, considering that people are increasingly aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain physical fitness and become a movement to encourage Indonesia to get back on its feet.

The BNI-UI Half Marathon also received support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), as a partner to spread the spirit of exercise, especially running, towards Indonesia Bugar 2045.
Iqbal continued, BNI has collaborated with UI and ILUNI UI to create a Campus Financial Ecosystem, including through Issuance of Smartcards for ILUNI UI members, Issuance of UI Card Credit Cards, BNI AM Makara Investment Mutual Fund Products for UI Endowment Funds, UI Connect Program as a connecting platform between UI alumni in Indonesia and abroad.
Apart from this, other collaborations that have been realized between BNI and UI include student card facilities with tapcash features for parking and transactions in the canteen, employee salary and pension payment facilities, BNI Life life insurance facilities for employees, ecosmart facilities for UI tenants, investment learning collaboration from BNI Sekuritas, and many other collaborations.

Together to Raise Endowment Fund
One of the objectives of BNI and UI in holding the BNI UI Half Marathon activity is to raise endowment funds whose products have been collaborated by BNI and UI under the name BNI AM Makara Investment Mutual Fund since 2016.
“It is hoped that this fundraising will be able to further strengthen the implementation of teaching, education, and community service activities and in particular meet the need for tuition support (scholarships) for students in need,” he said.
