Approaching the new semester, the government has made adjustments to the rules for the implementation of face-to-face learning for universities. To support the implementation of face-to-face lectures, Universitas Indonesia (UI) has reopened and reoperated campus facilities that had stopped due to the pandemic, one of which is the campus bus or known as Bikun (Yellow bus), which is a free intracampus transportation service at UI.

The first campus bus service will operate from August 1, 2022 with 5 units out of 10 planned units. The campus bus operates on Monday-Friday with a departure time of 06.54 a.m. and the last estimated time to the UI Dormitory is 19.30 p.m. On Saturdays, campus buses operate only until 17:00 p.m.

Campus buses are present with the aim of facilitating mobilization access for UI academicians to faculties and other facilities at UI. There are two routes for the campus bus service, the straight route (Rute lurus) and the right route (Rute kanan). The following route will be followed:

  1. The straight route (Rute Lurus): Departing from UI Dormitory – Menwa Bus Stop – UI Station Bus Stop – FH Bus Stop – Balairung/PLK Bus Stop – RIK Bus Stop – FKM Bus Stop – RSP Bus Stop – FIK Bus Stop – FMIPA Bus Stop – Polytechnic Bus Stop – Vocational UI/UI Stadium Bus Stop – FT Bus Stop – FEB Bus Stop – FIB Bus Stop – FISIP Bus Stop – F.Psi Bus Stop – UI Station Bus Stop – Menwa Bus Stop – UI Dormitory.
  2. The right route (Rute kanan): Departing from UI Dormitory – Menwa Bus Stop – UI Station Bus Stop – F.Psi Bus Stop – FISIP Bus Stop – FIB Bus Stop – FEB Bus Stop – FT Bus Stop – Vocational UI Bus/UI Stadium Bus Stop – Polytechnic Bus Stop – FMIPA Bus Stop – FIK Bus Stop – FKM Bus Stop – RIK Bus Stop – Balairung/PLK Bus Stop – UI Mosque Bus Stop – FH Bus Stop – UI Station Bus Stop – Menwa Bus Stop – UI Dormitory.

In order to continue creating safe and healthy transportation, campus bus users are required to continue implementing health protocols while on the campus buses. In accordance with the Transportation Requirements in the Guidelines for Organizing Activities/Events in the New Normal Living Order Number: IK-UPTK3L-OHIH-33 dated June 7, 2022, while on campus buses users are required to wear masks, not eat and drink, not talk, and keep their distance. Thus, for now the campus bus only accommodates 50% of the user capacity during normal times or only around 30-40 people.

Another thing that should also be considered for campus bus users is to be orderly when getting on and off the bus from the front door, and prioritize passengers who want to get off. In addition, what needs to be revived is the culture of saying “Thank you, sir” to the bus driver when disembarking. This has become a habit of campus bus users, especially among UI students.
