To enliven the holy month of Ramadan 1445 H, Universitas Indonesia (UI) is holding the annual Syiar Ramadhan program. This year, the program was initiated by the Makara Art Center (MAC) in collaboration with the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA), and Bakul Budaya Community of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB).

The event will be held from February 21 to March 28, 2024. This program features various activities, including Calligraphy, Al-Qur’an, and Golok Ciomas Exhibitions, Religious Poetry and Arabic Calligraphy Competition, Calligraphy Workshop, Ngabuburit Budaya, Tadarus Seni, and Sarasehan Budaya.

The Religious Poetry and Arabic Calligraphy Competition will be held from February 21–March 20, 2024. This competition is open to students from various universities in Indonesia. Apart from the Calligraphy Competition, a Calligraphy Workshop will also be held on March 18–20 2024, at MAC UI Gallery. This activity was also held online because of participants from Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.

For two days, 21–22 March 2024, the UI Campus Ramadhan Syiar presents Ngabuburit Budaya with different themes. On the first day, the theme “Instilling National Values Through Culture among Students” was presented by the Director of Student Affairs, Chair of the Liga Tari, and UI Alumni. On the second day, activities with the theme “Instilling National Values Through Culture” were presented by cultural experts. This event was enlivened by hadroh (Islamic culture) performances from PLK, Bakul Budaya Community, Sekar Widya Makara, and Krida Budaya UI.

For Tadarus Seni, activities will be held in March 2024 with the nuances of Ramadan in culture enlivened by Ki Ageng Ganjur, Salawat Jawi Emprak, Budi Cilok, Kyai Abdullah Wong, and Sarah Saputri. Meanwhile, as the closing of the 2024 UI Campus Ramadan Celebrations series, a Cultural Workshop entitled “Exploring Traces of Archipelago Civilization” was held on March 25.

Head of MAC UI, Dr. Ngatawi Al-Zastrouw, said that the UI Ramadhan Syiar is a form of ghairu mahdhah worship, worship that does not have clear implementation and technical instructions in the text. “This event is not only to celebrate the beautiful and meaningful holy month of Ramadan, but also to invest and increase artistic and cultural sensitivity in the academic community,” said Dr. Zastrouw.
