The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Indonesia (UI) organized a series of events to commemorate its anniversary this year. The series of activities are dominated by various activities that bring changes, especially in the aspects of health, safety, and welfare. One of which was a golf tournament held on Wednesday (5/10). The golf tournament was held at Klub Golf Bogor Raya and attended by the Dean of FKM UI Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc.; the Chairman of the UI Board of Trustees (MWA) Saleh Husin, S.E., M.Si.; the UI Rector for 2014-2019 Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met.; the Dean of Faculty of Medicine UI Prof. Dr. Ari Fahrial Syam; the Dean of Faculty of Law UI Dr. Edmon Makarim, S.H.; the Dean of Faculty of Nursing UI Agus Setiawan, S.Kp., M.N., D.N.; the Director of UI School of Strategic and Global Studies Athor Subroto, S.E., M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D; and Dean of UI School of Environmental Sciences Dr. dr. Tri Edhi Budi Soesilo, M.Sc.; and FKM UI Student Affairs Manager Dien Anshari, S.Sos., M.Sc., Ph.D.

The golf tournament was organized in collaboration with the Association of UI Alumni (ILUNI) of FKM UI and its strategic partners. In the opening speech of the tournament, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., the Dean of FKM UI, appreciated the parties who has contributed to the development of FKM UI.

He said that the 57th anniversary of FKM UI is a moment to contemplate in order to continue practicing science in the field of public health that can improve the health status and quality of Indonesians. “This year’s theme, Be Part of World Collaboration for Improving Health, Safety, and Well Being, contains a commitment for all structures of FKM UI family to continue to bring good changes in terms of health, safety and welfare,” he said.

Welfare, he said, is also taken into consideration because it is the basis for the overall health and happiness of the community. Prof. Mondastri further said that having a strong sense of well-being and being able to adapt well can help overcome difficulties and help achieve life goals. “These three things, namely health, safety and welfare, are an important unity that is prioritized in constructing the degree of community life,” he said.

The golf tournament, which is open to the public, is organized as a manifestation of the health aspect. Golf is a sport recommended for people of all ages, for both physical and mental health benefits.

Through an 18-hole match format, this golf tournament became the first to be held by FKM UI. To commence the tournament, an official tee off was held by the Chairman of MWA UI Saleh Husin, together with Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, as well as the release of the golf tournament balloon was done by Prof. Mondastri.

The Head of the Committee for the 57th Anniversary of FKM UI Capt. Muhammad Irwansyah, S.S.T., M.Mar., M.K.K.K., said that this activity managed to gather some supports from this faculty partner. As a form of gratitude for the achievements and contribution of FKM UI to public health in Indonesia, FKM UI will hold other various activities as a form of real contribution of this faculty.
