The Presidential Advisory Council is chaired by General TNI (Purn.) Dr. H. Wiranto, S.H., S.I.P., M.M held a meeting with the Academic Community of Universitas Indonesia (UI). Present at the meeting the Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., vice rectors, and deans. The theme of the meeting was “Acceleration of the Development of Indonesia’s Superior Human Resources: Capacity Building and Quality of Education, Research, and Community Service”. Based on Law Number 19 of 2006, the Wantimpres is tasked with providing advice and considerations to the President in exercising the power of state government.

“We see, there are at least two problems faced. First, global competition. The closer you get, the sharper it gets. In global competition, quoting from the President, it is not the ones who can win, but the ones who are the quickest to adapt and adopt. Second, there is hope that Indonesia will get a demographic bonus, depending on how our human resources are,” said Wiranto.

On the same occasion, a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, H. Muhamad Mardiono, said that universities are expected to accelerate and act as a driving force for the country’s economy. UI’s challenge is to produce young entrepreneurs in order to increase economic growth and compete with foreign products.

Currently, UI is moving towards superior human resources, as the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has said, the main process is coaching, learning, and printing the character of higher education students. This effort has also been realized through the granting of the right to study outside the study program, namely MBKM. This policy is an effort to develop superior human resources in Indonesia in facing distractions that are supported from two sides, namely from the side of the industrial revolution 4.0 and also the Covid-19 pandemic.
