In order to support the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) in achieving the target of a caries-free Indonesia by 2030, Universitas Indonesia (UI) together with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk is holding a free general health and dental examination program for 300 Gojek driver partners. This collaboration, carried out through the UI Directorate of Community Service and Empowerment (DPPM), was carried out at Balairung, UI Depok Campus, on Tuesday (12/12).

When delivering a welcoming speech, the Vice Rector for Human Resources and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA., said that this activity was a concrete manifestation of the spirit of collaboration to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. “We hope to make a positive contribution not only as a health service, but also have an impact on economic growth and human resource development.”Of course, it will also be a starting point for the development of wider and more sustainable cooperation in the future,” said Prof. Dedi.

Dental examinations were carried out by a team from the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) consisting of undergraduate, professional students, specialist resident doctors and supervisory doctors, in the form of simple dental care, starting from fillings, extractions and tartar cleaning. Meanwhile, general health checks were facilitated by the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UI which included measuring height, weight, blood pressure and simple blood tests, such as glucose, uric acid and cholesterol. More than that, Gojek drivers also get consultation services with doctors.

Gojek’s Public Policy and Government Relations Manager, Arief Ismaryanto, said that the collaboration program with UI is one of Gojek’s big dreams which is committed to creating a greater social impact on the lives of many people. “We saw that the population of Gojek driver partners operating at UI was very large, so we took the initiative to collaborate with UI to hold sustainable programs for the welfare of the community,” said Arief.

This program exists as a solution to limited basic health services, due to the low level of public health knowledge which leads to unhealthy lifestyles, inability to pay for treatment, and homes located far from health service facilities. According to drg. Benso Sulijaya, Sp.Perio(K)., Ph.D., as one of the FKG UI team, highlighted the importance of sustainable programs like this as a form of attention to the welfare of Gojek driver partners so that they remain productive in carrying out their work.
