smunUI delegation got back an honor in Singapore Model United Nations (SMUN). This year, SMUN was held by National University of Singapore on June 8th-12th 2015. UI delegation who were participated in SMUN were Meutia Rahmadina (Faculty of Engineering 2014), Amy Darajati Utomo (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences 2012), Nilam Laksitarasmi (Faculty of Economy and Business 2013), Diah Kristiningsih (Faculty of Law 2014), Mayang Krisnawardhani ( Faculty of Social and Political Sciences 2013), Chandra Anwar (Faculty of Law 2012) and Asti Shafira (Faculty of Public Health 2014).

One of the team member, Mayang Krisnawardhani acted as one of board of directors in ASEAN 3+ committee. In this committee, Krisnawardhani role was as moderator and chairwoman on a discussion about ASEAN free trade area sustainability and food safety in Southeast Asia. “Singapore MUN involve experienced people in MUN sector to be its board of directors. I cooperated with various foreign students such as Singapore and India, so it was such an honor for me in order to build up Indonesia’s honor,” said her.

Meanwhile, Chandra Anwar, chairman of Universitas Indonesia Model United Nation Club (UI MUN Club), said that this year’s SMUN was the sixth international event that he has been participated. Together with Asti Shafira, Anwar got honorable mention appreciation  (equal as the third champion) in ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) committee as USA representatives.

The two successfully completed two issues about air law in Asia and weapon competition between Asia countries. “ That was the second time I competed in Singapore, and it was really interesting that the culture was emphasize more on debate, not diplomacy. Yet I am happy to present honor for Indonesia,” said Anwar who got the same appreciation in  Nanyang Technological University MUN (NTUMUN) 2014.

Model United Nations (MUN) is United Nations court simulation. In the event, students compete their skills on debate, negotiate and generate resolution with innovative ideas in order to solve international issue. Each delegation acted as diplomat and represent various countries in nation union consuls. National University of Singapore as the event organizer is one of the best university in Southeast Asia, that has run this program for about 12 years. SMUN is categorized as
