Farhan Zakky Rahmatillah, a student of the Accounting, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), brought home a gold medal from the national taekwondo championship “Prabu Taekwondo Challenge.” He won the Kyorugi Under 58-Male category, eliminating 20 other participants. This championship was held at the Bonang Stadium Indoor GOR (Venue Prapon), Tangerang, Banten, attended by 1,500 participants.

Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D., the director of the Vocational Education Program, said that they always support all students in positive activities. Achievements in education, arts, and sports are something to be proud of. “I appreciate Farhan for succeeded bringing home brilliant achievements. Hopefully, Farhan can inspire other students to be talented in any field,” he said.

The Prabu Taekwondo Challenge Championship is a national-level open competition that is attended by representatives from more than five provinces. This championship is not only for students but also for participants from all over Indonesia. The event was held by the Indonesian Taekwondo Regional Management for Banten Province and the Prabu Taekwondo Team Club.

Farhan explained that preparations for the competition, which will be held on March 1-3, will only take less than two weeks. However, Farhan prepared optimally and arranged schedules to achieve the medal. He competed four times by winning the first two rounds to reach the podium, so Farhan managed to win all the Knock-Out rounds until the end.

Farhan’s goal in participating in the championship was to make UI proud. He wants to improve his abilities and contribute positively to UI. Farhan said, “I am very proud to improve UI’s reputation. This is my first achievement since studying at this campus. In the future, I will continue to achieve even more.”

Farhan has been involved in taekwondo since he was in junior high school. Armed with motivation for self-defense, Farhan achieved many achievements in the sports field. As a student, Farhan is also active in organizations, one of which is as Chair of the Accounting Vocational Association.

According to him, there needs to be a balance in the non-academic field through participation in various competitions, organizations, or volunteering. “As a leader, of course, I realize that I must be a good role model for others. I’m sure other students can also excel in their respective fields,” said Farhan.
