Universitas Indonesia (UI) together with the POSCO TJ Park Foundation held a ceremonial activity for 20 students who received POSCO TJ Park Foundation undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships, namely the “POSCO Asia Fellowship Award” on Tuesday (07/11) in Meeting Room A, University Administration Center Building, UI Depok Campus. This scholarship itself is in the form of educational funding assistance amounting to 1,500 US dollars per student for a period of one year.

The recipients of this scholarship include Kautsar Muhammad Iqbal, Aleg Restu Pridana Putra, Ibrenna Raissa Putri, Devina Arinda, Ariadne Jasmine Ardiana, Romi Naufal Karim, Nabila Keishafa Lutfiah & Gadis Alila Kuncoro from the Faculty of Engineering; Priskila Saur Novelia Br. Napitupulu & Jason Immanuel Hendrawan from the Faculty of Law; Ali Ridho Al Jufri, Nicole Accalia Angriawan and Rachmasari Nur Al-husin from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences; Hendrik Ignatius Damanik from the Faculty of Economics and Business; Gusti Agung Ayu Tehila Putri Cahyadi from the Faculty of Humanities; Nadya Arifta Auliazaki and Qonita Nur Salamah from the Faculty of Public Health; Bryan Tjandra from the Faculty of Computer Science; Ni Luh Vidary Wiakta Putri from the Faculty of Psychology; and Feni Andriani from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

The scholarship awarding ceremony was opened by the UI University Secretary, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D who warmly welcomed the POSCO TJ Park Foundation representatives and the scholarship recipients. “I would like to express my gratitude to the POSCO TJ Park Foundation for the visit and scholarships provided to our students. We hope that in the future, with this program, the collaboration between UI and the POSCO TJ Park Foundation can expand and provide a positive growth impact for both parties in contributing to society and the communities around us,” said dr. Agustin.

POSCO TJ Park Foundation Chairperson, Dr. Kim Sun Uk also congratulated and felt proud of the achievements of the scholarship recipients. “I hope that this scholarship will not only be useful for all of you in the future, but can also help contribute to strengthening relations between Indonesia and South Korea in various aspects. I also hope that with this scholarship, relations between Indonesia and South Korea will improve,” said Kim Sun Uk.

TJ Park itself is a public institution in the form of a foundation that focuses on the social sector with a mission to increase the abilities and talents of human resources in the Asian region through cultural and academic activities. TJ Park itself is currently under the auspices of POSCO, which is an international company from South Korea that produces steel. The POSCO Asia Fellowship Scholarship itself aims to cultivate future leaders from Asia, increase knowledge between countries to contribute to world peace and shared prosperity by developing talents and cultural exchanges between countries.

Apart from being attended by scholarship recipient students, this ceremony was also attended by UI representatives including the UI Director of Student Affairs, Badrul Munir, Ph.D; and Head of the Student Welfare Sub-directorate, Achmad Solechan, M.Si. Meanwhile, representatives from the POSCO TJ Park Foundation and POSCO Indonesia Inti include the Secretary General of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation, Ms. Bang Mi Joung; POSCO TJ Park Foundation Manager, Mr. Park Myung Sun; Director of POSCO Indonesia, Mr. Kang Yong Gun; POSCO Indonesia Manager and Rhea, POSCO Indonesia Ms. Kim Ji San.
