Aida Shafa Kamilah, a student of the Tourism Business Management Study Program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), won third place at the “Jakarta Karate Open and Festival V” National Karate Championship for Women Students in the -61 kg class. The championship which is held annually by the Jakarta State University is attended by around 400 athletes, both from representatives from PB Forki Daerah, Dojo, and students from universities in Indonesia, on 12-13 February 2022.

Aida said that her success in bringing home the bronze medal was an honor because she could represent the University of Indonesia at the National Karate Championship. What she had obtained cannot be separated from her efforts to continue to practice and give his best. “My own preparation was that I took part in training at the same Dojo in Bogor City Forki, then took care of my health, especially during the pandemic, and didn’t forget to pray. In addition, previously there was a match from the beginning of February until the last one. So, since December, training has started,” said Aida.

Furthermore, Aida admitted that she had to divide her time as effectively as possible with her current college and organizational activities. Although she had to go through the whole process of training and preparation, she did not forget his obligations as a student and still prioritized education.

“The lecture schedule must continue, because in my opinion it is the number one priority. So, the training schedule is usually in the afternoon or after maghrib. So, it doesn’t interfere with college activities and usually if there is a class schedule, I ask the coach for permission to come late. So, so far the practice has not interfered with the lecture schedule. The difficulty is when there are conflicting schedules, the same as before, which clashes between match preparation and the Semester Final Examination. However, the rest I can still manage my time, which are lectures, assignments, training and also organization,” said Aida.

Aida has participated in various karate championships since she was in school. He has also won several championships such as the 1st Winner of the 2022 Bogor Karate Festival; 1st place in the 2021 West Java “Inkai” Special Regional Championship; 1st Place in the Selection for West Java Fokri 2021; 2nd place in the 2021 PB Forki Chairman’s Cup National Championship; and various other championships.
