A total of 12 lecturers and researchers from Universitas Indonesia (UI) are included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022, which is a list of the world’s most influential researchers published by Stanford University and Elsevier BV, a Dutch academic publishing company that focuses on scientific, engineering, and health content. Researchers included in this list are those who actively conduct research and publish scientific papers.

The twelve UI researchers who belong to this category come from three faculties, namely Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), and Faculty of Medicine. From Faculty of Engineering, lecturers and researchers who achieve this achievement are Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nandy Setiadi Djaya Putra; Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Irwan Katili, DEA.; and Dr.-Ing. Ir. Nasruddin, M.Eng.

From Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, there are 5 researchers who are included in this list. The five researchers are Prof. Dr. Yoki Yulizar; Prof. Dr. rer. grout. Rosary Saleh; Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum; Drs. Dr. Zuherman Rustam, DEA.; and Dr. Dipo Aldila, S.Si., M.Sc. Meanwhile, from Faculty of Medicine, lecturers and researchers who are included in the list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022 are Prof. Dr. dr. Siti Setiadi, SpPD-KGer, M.Epid, FINASIM.; Prof. dr. Jeanne Adiwinata Pawitan, M.S., Ph.D.; and Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Rezeki Hadinegoro, Sp.A (K).

Specific criteria are set to determine the best researchers on this international scale. Stanford University and Elsevier created a database of top-cited scientists that provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator(c-score).

The scientists included in this assessment are classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists based on c-score (with and without self-citations) or percentile rank of 2% or more in a particular subfield. A total of 195,605 scientists are included in the career-long database and 200,409 scientists are included in the single recent year dataset.

The list of the world’s best researchers was officially released on October 10, 2022. As an annual publication, World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022 is the fourth version. Previously, Elsevier had published the first version in July 2019, the second version in October 2020 and the third version in October 2021.

The Top 2% Scientist in the World rating was conducted by Professor John P.A. Ioannidis, M.D., Ph.D. from Stanford University; Jeroen Baas of Elsevier; and Kevin Boyack from SciTech Strategies that was published in the fourth version of “Updated Science-wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators”.
