Universitas Indonesia ‘s Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FAS UI) held a meeting with parents of students from the Class of 2021, in a virtual ceremony marking their entry as members of the faculty’s extended family, on Saturday (18/12). In the event, several agendas were carried out, including socialization of the academic system, delivery of information about lecture activities, and an invitation for parents to join the FAS UI Student Parents Association (IOM FAS UI).

When delivering his opening speech, the Dean of FAS UI Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya, M.Sc., M.M., said, “It is not easy to become a UI Academic Civitas. With the support of Mr and Mrs, hopefully in the future your son/daughter can graduate on time with optimal achievements, both at the academic level and non-academic.”

Furthermore, Oman Sukmana, S.T., M.M., IOM FAS UI administrator, gave a speech and explained that IOM FAS UI is one of the important components in the success of the faculty, which aims to encourage the involvement of the role of parents / guardians to collaborate, synergize with FAS leadership, and alumni. “Together, we are bridging the gap in guiding our students so that they can excel, both academically and non-academically, and bring the name of FAS to the global arena,” said Oman.

This goal can be realized through a strategy called 5G, namely Gema, Gesit, Genius, Garcep, and Gaspol. “Gema focuses on activities to introduce FAS, Genius which means the FAS movement is superior and successful through supporting development activities for students. Gesit is the Synergy Movement of parents with FAS, LK, and alumni, Gercep is a movement to help overcome the pandemic, and Gaspol is a movement to maximize all potential,” said Oman.

At the same event, outstanding students and alumni said that studying at FAS UI is a golden opportunity to develop themselves, academically and non-academically, because it is supported by an educational curriculum that is in accordance with the times, qualified lecturers, and adequate facilities. The role of parents at home (fathers and mothers), and “parents” on campus (lecturers) is needed in accompanying the learning process of these students.

The meeting between parents of students and FAS UI opened with a mini-ceremony that displayed data on the achievements of students in the Class of 2021 with the accompaniment of a song created by UKF FAS UI. Furthermore, the introduction of the academic system by the dean of FAS UI, then sharing of college life – both academic, and non-academic by Mapres and FAS UI Alumni -, then closed with a question and answer session.
