The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FKUI) through the Department of Pediatrics FKUI-RSCM (Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo National Hospital) establishes international cooperation in the Education and Training program of Health Care Personnel for Sustainable Early Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Indonesia (EATS Indonesia). This collaboration involves six cross-institutional and international professional organizations, including Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich Germany, Faculty of Medicine Hasanuddin University (FK UNHAS), Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Doctors Association (POGI). , the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI), and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Dean of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam said in his speech, “Collaboration plays an important role in modern medicine, communication between professions plays a very important role in providing the best care for patients. I hope that through this event, we can build the foundation for future collaboration between institutions to improve the ability of medical personnel to provide better health services for people throughout Indonesia.”

The chairman of EATS Indonesia, Prof. Aryono explained the importance of continuing education for medical personnel in the field of mothers and children, which can be held online, so that it is easily accessible to health workers throughout Indonesia. “EATS Indonesia is held with the aim of increasing the ability of medical personnel in the field of maternal and child health to provide services to the community, especially educating mothers so that they can prevent disease before pregnancy and after childbirth,” he said.

The form of collaboration in the EATS Indonesia program is to create an online continuous learning system consisting of several materials designed by FKUI and LMU in collaboration with POGI, IDAI, and IBI. Moreover, Prof. Aryono explained that after three years running, the final form of this collaboration is a website that can be accessed by all health workers, especially pediatricians, obstetricians, and midwives who discuss the latest topics in the field of maternal and child health. This program has been implemented in Europe as well as several Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Thailand, and has proven to give satisfactory results.

The program inauguration (kick-off meeting) and the signing of the cooperation agreement for the EATS Indonesia program were carried out in a hybrid manner from the Faculty Academic Senate Room (SAF) Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia , Universitas Indonesia Salemba Campus on Monday (11/07). Present at the event the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, Sp.PD-KGEH, MMB.; Deputy Dean III of Faculty of Medicine Unhas (Universitas Hasanuddin), dr. Firdaus Hamid, Ph.D, Sp.MK.; Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München Representative Dr. Shweta Feher; Chairman of EATS Indonesia Prof. Dr. dr. Aryono Hendarto, Sp. A(K), M.P.H.; and Head of EATS Unhas Dr. dr. Aidah Juliaty A. Baso, Sp.A(K), Sp.GK.

In addition, this event was also attended by the General Chairperson of POGI Dr. dr. Ari Kusuma Januarto Sp.OG(K); Chairman of IDAI dr. Prof. Aryono expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in EATS Indonesia, according to him, without cooperation between professional organizations and also support from the government, this program will not be able to take place effectively and efficiently. “We hope that in the future this program will continue to be carried out for the long term in Indonesia with full support from all parties,” he said. The collaboration between UI, UNHAS, and LMU is a synergistic collaboration because each university represents their respective regions.
