By raising ideas from the lives of today’s youth who grow with YouTuber profession and turning them into works, students of Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia won 2nd and 3rd place in a national-level creative video competition. The event was organized by Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).
The students were divided into two groups, namely the CSI group consisting of Cintya Agustiyaningsih, Muhammad Reza Nur Hakim, and Shaffa Khairiyah Sunarya, and the AB Production group consisting of Avira Erinistia, and Bella Rachmafanny.
The CSI team made a video about a YouTuber who was making horror content and during the process of making it, he was bothered by his family members who asked him to do a bank transaction. That’s when BNI offers a solution.
Cintya and the team brainstormed before executing their project. With the knowledge from the courses that have been studied before, they find it easier when making interesting video concepts.
For the AB Production team, participating in a video competition like this honed their skills in videography, which they had previously learned in the class. In addition, they see competitions like this as a benchmark for how far theoretical understanding from campus can be applied in practice.
Vocational UI has a learning system that places more emphasis on practical aspects (70% practice and 30% theory in class). In addition, Vocational UI facilitates students with national competency certificates in their respective fields as a support when they face the industrial world after graduation. This competency certificate will add to the portfolio needed when they enter the industry.
In the competition which was held from August 2 to September 12, 2021, more than 11 universities joined as participants.
