Currently, changes in the global environment, the goal of becoming a developed country, as well as the quickness and convenience of public services are part of the challenging objectives in facing bureaucratic reform. Bureaucratic reform is not merely a pile of paper or administrative management, but it gives impacts as well as an active and fast bureaucracy to answer all global challenges.

For this reason, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) UI with the Ministry of the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) held an activity entitled SAPA Mahasiswa “Stakeholder Synergy in the Implementation of Thematic Bureaucratic Reform”, at the Auditorium Edisi 2020 FIA UI, UI Depok Campus (2/3). This activity invited the Minister of PANRB RI Abdullah Azwar Anas, Dean of FIA UI Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya, M.Si., M.M, and Head of the Department of Public Administration Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, M.Sc for discussing the work priorities of KemenPANRB, especially related to thematic bureaucratic reform.

In his welcoming speech, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences UI Prof. Chandra said, “There are so many global challenges that must be resolved by Indonesia, which one of the keys to deal with them is the governance and strategy in creating a bureaucratic reform held by KemenPANRB. This is very important for us to know, including for students of the next young generation,” said Prof. Chandra.

Minister of KemenPANRB Abdullah Azwar Anas said that the implementation of bureaucratic reform still needs to be adjusted every time so that it can provide a quick response to the problems at hand. There needs to be collaboration between all parties from academics, government, people, Indonesian military/police, and others to create a better Indonesia.

“If we collaborate together, we surely can face all the existing problems. Currently, we also need to improve the governance and business processes of all plans. For this reason, we are implementing thematic bureaucratic reforms consisting of bureaucratic reforms for poverty alleviation, bureaucratic reforms for increasing investment, bureaucratic reforms for digitalizing government administration, and bureaucratic reforms for accelerating the president’s actual priority,” said Azwar Anas.
