“Entrepreneurship is not a profession. Entrepreneurship is a mindset. Entrepreneurial university is a university that has an entrepreneurial spirit, has the spirit of that entrepreneurial mindset and that is a university that is moving towards being independent, autonomous, and not dependent on government subsidies, so that entrepreneurial university is a model of developing educational institutions by optimizing their resources, including their students,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in a talk show session “Transformation of Higher Education towards Entrepreneurial University in the Field of Culture” with Dr. Adrianus, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities (FHum), Universitas Indonesia (UI). This talk show is part of the 82nd Anniversary of FHum UI.

During the celebration, FHum UI invited the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, to speak in a talk show session that explored several things related to how to prepare for the transformation towards Entrepreneurial University, especially in the field of culture. The Minister said that educational institutions are required to be able to develop their knowledge and resources for the three services that must be carried out by universities, ranging from scientific aspects, contributions to society, as well as how universities can produce not only job-seeking students but also job creators.
Meanwhile, associated with culture, the nobleness of Indonesian culture is not only limited to something that must be preserved but precisely the culture that can be an added value for the development of the nation in the future. “For this reason, cultural entrepreneurship is also one of the tasks of educational institutions, how we make this culture our strength, not only making it something that we enjoy, preserve, but also benefit from the concept of entrepreneurship,” Sandiaga Uno said.
“The Faculty of HUmanities has undergone various changes and shows that FHum always adapts in facing challenges. For this reason, the chosen theme “Towards Entrepreneurial University in the Field of Culture”, reflects how FHum is ready to face the transformation into an Entrepreneurial University. This theme is very relevant given the importance of building partnerships and networks with industry and government to collaborate in linking education, research and academic activities with technological, social and economic development,” said Rector of Universitas Indonesia (UI), Prof. Ari Kuncoro in his welcoming speech at the event.
According to Dr. Adrianus, the changing role of universities in economic and social development, especially in building a knowledge-based society, is part of the dynamics of higher education in the global and national contexts. Therefore, with this theme, the university is expected to transform from a Research University to an Entrepreneurial University, thus becoming an academic institution that combines teaching, research and entrepreneurship. The event took place online on Tuesday (7/12) via zoom and was broadcast live on the faculty’s official YouTube channel.
At the anniversary event, FHum UI also received a Javanese Gamelan grant from the Chairman of the Kertagama Foundation, Dr. Sri Teddy Rusdy. “With regard to the grant of a Javanese gamelan set; slendro and pelog, we as deans and personally express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Sri Teddy Rusdy who has been willing and sincere in donating this Javanese gamelan set. This grant is very important for the continuity of arts and cultural activities and programs at FHum UI in the future. It is hoped that the academic community of FHum UI, especially for students and teachers in the Regional Literature Study Program for Javanese Literature FHum UI, will take good care of this Javanese gamelan asset so that it can support and encourage various creative, innovative and outstanding arts and cultural activities,” Adrianus said.
In addition to these subjects, the 82nd Anniversary of FHum UI also gave awards to retired, best community service for the 2018-2021 period and outstanding students. In addition, through the In Memoriam video, the FHum UI academic community remembers the teachers, colleagues, and friends who have passed away during 2021. The event was also enlivened by Dies Natalis congratulations from leaders in the UI environment, greetings from partners and entertainment songs from alumni, Leona Dwi Untari. Along with the celebration of the 82nd Anniversary of FHum UI, the dean team for the 2018-2021 period resigned and handed over the duties and mandates to build FHum to the new Dean team.
