In a bid to reduce the impact and number of instances of traffic accidents, the Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets, Universitas Indonesia (UI), Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA. and the Director of Institutional Relations, PT Jasa Raharja, Munadi Herlambang, signed an MoU in Conference Room A, University Administration Centre Second Floor, on Monday (28/3).
Also present on the occassion were representatives of PT Jasa Raharja, including Jakarta Branch Chief Suhadi, and representatives from UI, including Director of Student Affairs Badrul Munir, Ph.D., Director of Director of Business Unit Management and Development T.M. Zakir Sjakur Machmud, Ph.D., Head of Public Relations Bureau Amelita Lusia, M.Si., Head of Business Cooperation Sub-Directorate (Cooperation Directorate) Andri Syahreza, and Head of Academic and Government Cooperation Sub-Directorate Dr. Eko Sakapurnama.
The Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets, Prof. Dedi Priadi, stated, in the keynote, that UI has always supported good synergy with all policymakers. “We are very much open towards cooperation with PT Jasa Raharja in the strengthening of the Tri Dharma,” Prof. Dedi said, referring to the three fundamental duties of Indonesian universities: Education, Research, and Community Service. “We hope that the signing of this MoU may bolster ties of collaboration between, and optimise institutional duties and functions of UI and PT Jasa Raharja.”
Munadi Herlambang, speaking on behalf of PT Jasa Raharja, explained that the company has a history of carrying out research. “The aims of these researches are innovations in accident safety equipments. The Ministry has tasked us to organise a yearly event: the ‘Youth Innovation’ which showcases innovations in driving safety to [sic] students. PT Jasa Raharja is the only state-owned entreprise to serve the people in providing accident insurance protection. We cover whole incidents. We synergise with the Police, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and the Ministry of State–Owned Enterprises in providing excellent service to the people.“
Munadi then explained several agendas PT Jasa Raharja has in store for UI. “First is Youth Innovation: cooperation, in the framework of Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka, on scholarship, some programmes that are to serve as ‘links and matches’ between industries and education, and that are to involve students in the capacity of safety ambassadors.” Through cooperation between PT Jasa Raharja and UI, he added, it is hoped that synergy between the two parties may be achieved on reducing the number of traffic accidents.
Other events UI and PT Jasa Raharja has agreed to hold together include 1) Education, Research, and Community Service (i.e. the Tri Dharma), and training; 2) Research collaboration and resource development; 3) Scientific activities, scientific studies, seminars and workshops; 4) Enhancement and development of human resource competence; 5) Cooperation in traffic safety improvement programs; and other activities agreed upon by both parties.
PT Jasa Raharja is a state-owned enterprise that “carr[ies] out accident insurance for public transport passengers and insurance liability according to the law against third parties as stipulated in Law No. 33 and 34 in 1964 following its implementing regulations.”
