We are confident that this collaboration will produce extraordinary results and bring benefits to both universities,” said Mr. Rob.

This MoU will be a stepping stone for future international collaboration plans for UI and UTAS. One of them is the UI Faculty of Engineering (FT) plan to open a collaborative double degree international class program in the field of Naval Engineering with the University of Tasmania. This program will provide students from both universities with the opportunity to earn an internationally recognized double degree, which will help increase their competitiveness in the global world of work.

“This year FTUI accepted the first batch of international class program students for Naval Engineering. Apart from the single degree program, we also collaborate with several partners for the double degree program, including the University of Strathclyde, UK and the Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania. “Both of them are among the best naval education institutions in the world,” said Prof. Dr. Heri. Currently, the University of Strathclyde is ranked first in Europe in the field of Marine/Ocean Engineering based on the Shanghai University Ranking 2022 and AMC UTAS is also ranked first in the world in the field of Maritime Education, Training and Research based on the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) ranking.
