UI Faculty of Pharmacy and Army Carries Out Mass Phase 2 Covid-19 Vaccination

The Faculty of Pharmcy, Universitas Indonesia (FFUI), in collaboration with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, carried out phase 2 Covid-19 vaccination in Sasakpanjang, a village in Tajurhalang District, Bogor, West Java, one of the foster villages with which FFUI have had ties. The program, held on Saturday (23/10/21), demonstrates FFUI’s commitment towards the community and Covid-19 prevention and control.

Present on the occassion were FFUI Vice Chancellor II Prof. Dr. apt. Abdul Mun’im, M.Si., FFUI Manager of Education Dr. Fadlina Chany Saputri, M.Si., Apt., Head of Sasakpanjang Village, Andi Umi Julaika, S.Pd, Bojong Gede Military Region Village Trustee NCO (Babinsa), Head of RW (Rukun Warga / Neighbourhood) 12 Rudi Sofyan, and representatives of Human Initiative.

The event was opened by speeches from Mr. Rudi Sofyan, Dr. Abdul Mun’im, and Mr. Andi Umi. Prof. Mun’im expressed his gratitude towards residents of Sasakpanjang, who received the programme with great enthusiasm.

“Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your enthusiasm this morning. Today’s vaccination, we do hope, is for our common good. I, and all of us, hope that with this vaccination programme our immunity will strenghten and our activites will soon be held normally once again.”

Rudi Sofyan hopes that this program may serve as a launchpad for future joint ventures between Sasakpanjang and UI. “I express gratitude, ladies and gentlemen, for your presence and participation. Hopefully this can be the first step, from Sasakpanjang’s part, and perhaps from FFUI’s part, towards collaboration in the health sector for the people of Sasakpanjang, and we also hope this can also be a benchmark, when residents of RW 12 achive 90% immunity level, as we target and hope.” Rudi’s statement represented the enthusiasm of the village’s residents towards the program.

308 residents had been vaccinated during Phase 1. More attended the Phase 2 vaccination as planned, with the Army providing 500 doses of vaccines to residents who had obtained the first dose as well as those who haven’t.

In line with Mr. Rudi Sofyan’s statement, Mr. Andi Julaika expressed his gratitude for the program initiated by FFUI. “I would like to thank FFUI, which carried out its MoU in Sasakpanjang and provided thrusts and donations for vaccinations, stage one and two, joint effort for the health of the residents of Sasakpanjang Village in particular, and Indonesian citizens in general. Holding this vaccin[ation] means we are eradicating Covid-19 together, which has been going on for 2 years.”

Sasakpanjang, Andi stated, has fully transitioned towards a green zone, due to the collective efforts of its residents, which include attending the programme initiated by FFUI, through which they may obtain shots with ease. The programme is expected to bring Sasakpanjang closer towards herd immunity of all residents of Sasakpanjang, but Andi advised residents of Sasakpanjang to abide to health protocols even after obtaining vaccination.
