Caelius Team of Universitas Indonesia (UI) that was consisted of Bhagas Aufa Handoyo,
Millatina Mirrah Putri, and Dita Anggraeni Kusumaningrum, three students of Industrial
Engineering year 2014, won at Industrial Engineering Competition (IECOM) 2018 that was
held on January 7 th to 13 th 2018 at Institut Teknologi Bandung.
There were three stages that need to be passed to become the winner of IECOM 2018.
The first stage were team quiz and amazing race. In the first stage, participants had to
answer various questions related to Industrial Engineering Science.
On the second stage, semifinalists were given a case study about investment games
simulation. The first and second stage aimed to select the best 5 teams that will be
announced as IECOM 2018 finalists and participating in Grand Final stage.
In grand final stafe, IECOM 2018 finalists visiting Gaya Motor Company to do direct
observastion and taking data related to real case that was given by the company.
After doing observation and collecting the needed data, on the next day the finalists were
given 12 hours to discuss about the best solution for the case in Gaya Motor Company,
then giving presentation in fornt of judges team on the following day.
Caelius team gave solution by using clear method that analyze various factors, such as
line balancing, supply chain, maintenance, human resource, quality and of course the
company profit. This made them become superior in assessment process.
One of the team member, Kusumaningrum, said that the key of their winning was team
composition that completing each other. “When you creating a team, you need to know
each other capacity and capabilities. Do not look for member with the same abilities, you
need to find someone who can completing each other,” explained her.
Various preparations to face IECOM 2018 was done by Caelius Team of UI, started
determining work division consistently up to sharing experiences on previous competition
that had been participated together.
IECOM 2018 is an international-scale industrial engineering competition that is held by
Industrial Engineering Student Family of Institut Teknologi Bandung (MTI ITB) and can be
participated by all student of Industrial Engineering Student in Bachelor Degree from all
over Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
