Along with technological advances, Universitas Indonesia (UI) as a university is always committed to continue developing research that has an impact on society. For this reason, Universitas Indonesia (UI) through the Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) together with Samsung Research Indonesia (SRIN) collaborate in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and robotics.
Dean of FCS UI, Dr. Ir. Petrus Mursanto, M.Sc., said AI and robotics programs are important things that need to be applied in the field of computer science in universities and higher education. “FCS UI supports this collaboration, because the program planned by SRIN is very much connected to the programs of FCS UI and other institutions. The topics offered are also interesting, especially AI which has become a specialty of FCS UI where we have an AI Center, so the super computers we have will be very optimally utilized with various programs from partners like this. We are very supportive, welcoming what SRIN wants to collaborate on,” said Petrus.
Meanwhile, Head of SRIN Technology Group, Risman Adnan, said that SRIN’s visit aims to strengthen good relations with Universitas Indonesia in the field of computer science and research development programs in the field of AI and robotics through FCS UI. “We at SRIN want to develop more capacity to enter the realm of AI and robotics. In addition, we are exploring some new technologies such as block chain. We also want to ensure that SRIN has close cooperation with the best university in the country, Universitas Indonesia, in the field of computer science. Therefore, the goal is that we want to explore more cooperation in the AI and robotics sector,” Risman said.
SRIN, which is Samsung’s research and development center in Indonesia, has collaborated with hundreds of Indonesian digital talents. At the age of 10, together with these Indonesian digital talents, various applications have been successfully developed by utilizing a local-to-global approach.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Ari Saptawijaya, S.Kom., M.Sc., Ph.D., as well as Professor of FCS UI, Prof. Dr. Eng. Wisnu Jatmiko, S.T., M.Kom.; Manager of Research and Community Service, Adila Alfa Krisnadhi, S.Kom., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Coordinator of the Computer Science Undergraduate Study Program and International Classes, Alfan Farizki Wicaksono, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. This cooperation meeting was held at the Faculty Lounge, new building of FCS UI, Depok, on Friday (22/07).
