Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia (Menaker RI) Dr. Hj. Ida Fauziyah, M.Si. fully supported the activities of UI Career, Internship, Scholarship, and Entrepreneurship (CISE) Expo 2023. She said that the government is committed to accelerating national economic recovery in 2023, focusing on positive economic growth and reducing the unemployment rate in the context of national development goals. “I believe that UI CISE Expo 2023 will really help the government to achieve its target of reducing unemployment in 2023,” she said in her opening remarks online, on Friday (17/3).

In line with this, the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., who also gave his opening remarks, said that collaboration between campuses and all stakeholders, especially the utilization of university graduates, was very important to be strengthened. He added, in preparing the best talents of the graduates, cooperation from various parties is needed.

For this reason, after being held online for the last two years, Universitas Indonesia (UI) through Career Development Center (CDC) in collaboration with KarirLab held a hybrid UI CISE Expo 2023 at Balairung, UI Depok Campus, on March 17-18, 2023. This year, the expo participants came from 36 national and multinational corporate partners, 10 scholarship institutions, 32 entrepreneurship partners, 42 media partners, and 32 state and private university partners. In the two days of the event, it was seen that more than 3,500 participants packed the job fair exhibition at Balairung.

Chief Organizer of UI CISE Virtual Expo 2023 Prof. Dr. drg. Sandra Fikawati, MPH. said that UI CISE Expo 2023 was carried out in a hybrid mode so that it could cover all aspects of needs and interests. The purpose of this activity is to directly bring together final-year students, UI alumni, and other higher education institutions with companies that are currently opening internship and job vacancies. Besides that, this event was implemented in order to facilitate graduates who want to continue their studies or who want to be entrepreneurs.

“Hopefully, with many participating partners, it will provide greater opportunities for participants attending UI CISE Hybrid Expo March 2023 to build their careers and continue their education,” said Prof. Sandra. During its online activities, a large number of participants also visited the platform of UI CISE Hybrid Expo March 2023 on the website uicise.karirlab.co. By using an integrated platform, participants can more easily access information and hundreds of vacancies from each partner company, scholarship institution, university, and MSMEs.

Since the opening of this integrated platform on March 13, 2023, Stephanus Wicardo as Co-Founder of Karirlab, said that there have been 300 job posts, 50 thousand users, and 300 thousand visits to the website uicise.karirlab.co. These numbers still can increase because the platform is running until March 24, 2023.

UI CISE Expo itself is part of an effort to optimize links and matches between university graduates and various industries. Director of Graduate Career Development and Alumni Relations UI Ir. Ahmad Syafiq, M.Sc., Ph.D. said, “Not merely through exhibitions, this event also enables participants with a series of educational events related to post-campus life, such as webinars, company talks, exclusive company sessions, and industry bootcamps to support the ability and readiness of participants in applying for a job, preparing for a business, or continuing their studies. This is a concrete manifestation of UI’s contribution to preparing skills for qualified young workforces,” said Syafiq.
