The Universitas Indonesia Hospital (RSUI), Depok, has increased the number of bed capacities for Covid-19 treatment. This is done as a form of support and anticipation for the Depok city government’s efforts to suppress the increasing number of Covid-19 transmissions. The additions made since the first week of February 2022 are also a form of RSUI’s commitment as a hospital dedicated to handling Covid-19 patients.

“With the daily spike in Covid-19 cases, especially in the city of Depok, as an anticipatory measure, we moved quickly to increase the bedcapacity on the 11th floor with a total of 25 beds. However, the addition of these bedsis carried out in stages in accordance with the conditions of the Covid-19 case and the availability of the number of bedsin the health facilities (Health Service Facilities) in the city of Depok through the coordination of the Depok Health Office,” said Dr. dr. Astuti Giantini, Sp.PK (K), MPH., President Director of RSUI.

Further, dr. Astuti explained that not all patients exposed to Covid-19 had to be hospitalized. There are several provisions for the management of Covid-19 patients that are adjusted to the symptoms they experience. This refers to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).

“The addition of the Covid-19 treatment room is intended for patients who do require further treatment or experience severe symptoms, so intensive care is necessary, such as comorbid patients. Meanwhile, for patients who are asymptomatic or may have symptoms, but are mild-moderate in nature, it is recommended to self-isolate at home or centralized isolation such as an Emergency Hospital or it can also be a place or lodging specifically for self-isolation such as the UI Japanese Study Center, ” said dr. Astuti.

Based on current hospital data, the bedoccupation ratio (BOR) for the isolation of Covid-19 at the RSUI has reached 89% or as many as 50 beds and the ICU has reached 71% or as many as 8 beds. Overall, the total bed capacity of Covid-19 patients at RSUI is 66 beds, consisting of 8 bedsfor the Covid-19 ICU, 50 negative pressure isolation beds, 1 NICU bed, and 7 bedsCovid-19 emergency rooms. In accordance with the coordination with the Depok City Health Office, if additional bedcapacity is needed, it will be carried out in stages adjusted to human resources (HR), infrastructure and medical facilities.
